Adolphe Attia, 50 years of hazanut in France

LIFE COURSES, AN EIJM FILM PRODUCTION

Born in 1937 in M’Sila, Adolphe Attia, First Chief Cantor of the Grande Synagogue de la Victoire since 1979, following in the footsteps of Shalom Berlinski, recalls in this video the story of his career as a student and then teacher at the Séminaire israélite de France, from 1952 until the definitive closure of its cantorial section in 1973.

In addition to his ministry and teaching activities, Adolphe Attia performed for several decades on radio – notably on Léon Algazi’s program Kol Israël [The Voice of Israel], where he succeeded Emile Kaçmann as soloist – and in numerous concerts and festivals, both in France and abroad.

The video below is taken from an interview with Adolphe Attia on July 18, 2022.
