Songs by Jews from Algeria, 2nd part

Settled on the land of today’s Algeria since ancient times, Jewish musicians played an important role in the creation and transmission of the musical legacy of Algeria. This new playlist features an overview of this repertoire.

doc_2_algerie_2_500px.jpgStrongly marked by the wandering which characterizes the Jewish people, the music from Algerian Jews is born from the proximity and exchanges with Muslim artists, which gave birth to great Jewish composers and perfomers, such as Cheikh Raymond, Reinette l’Oranaise, Lili Labassi, Line Monty, Blond Blond, Lili Boniche, Luc Cherki, Salim Halali, José de Suza, Maurice El Médioni, René Perez and many others.
