El Kahlaoui Tounsi

Kahlaoui Tounsi, whose real name was Elie Touitou, was born in Tunis on January 24, 1932, near Sidi Mahrez. He spent his entire childhood in the popular district of Sidi Maghdoum and Bab Souika, a district renowned for its artistic activities, particularly during the month of Ramadan. Elie Touitou was attracted from an early age to the art of music and song, with a predilection for rhythm, percussion and playing the darbouka.
