Cheikh Raymond
Born in Constantine in 1912, Raymond Leyris, aka Cheikh Raymond, was Jewish and sang in Arab. Great craftsman of the renewal of Arab-Andalusian music from Constatine called malouf, he reached unrivalled peaks of knowledge and creativity. His assassination on June 22nd 1961 caused the departure of the Constantine Jews. This double CD is an immersion into the lost world of Algerian judaism.
