The dream of a Jewish state started in 1897, in Basel in Switzerland with the first zionist congress led by Theodore Herzl.
Herzl will later say, about the congress : « in Basel, I founded the Jewish state … if you want, it won’t be just a dream. »

After the Balfour declaration, in 1917, in which the first English foreign affairs minister, Lord Arthur James Balfour, acknowledges the right of the Jewish people to have a national home in Palestine, the League of Nations establishes in 1922 the British mandate.
This mandate aims to settle in Palestine a « national home for the Jewish people » on the base of a historical link between the Jewish people and Palestine.

Two years after the second world war where six million Jews were killed, the United Nations Organisation (U.N.O) votes, on the 29th of Novembre 1947, the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, along with 33 countries.
