Descrizione

The European Institute of Jewish Music is pleased to announce the publication of Cantata Shma kolenu, a major work by ltaï Daniel, for 4-part choir, solo baritone, clarinet in A and string trio.

Born in Israel in 1967, composer, pianist and conductor Itaï Daniel studied music at Tel Aviv University’s Academy of Music, then at the Cleveland Institute of Music in the United States. Settling in Paris in 2004, Itaï Daniel decided to devote himself to composition. Choirmaster of the Ensemble Choral Copernic since 2009, he has composed numerous pieces of liturgical and popular Jewish music for this ensemble.

His major works in the Jewish tradition include three great cantatas (Mahzor Hayim, Shma Kolenu and B’reshït) and numerous compositions, large and small, based on major Jewish prayers and texts (Kaddish, Oseh Shalom, Adon Olam, Kol Nidrei, Yotzer, Haskivenu, Shalom Rav and many others).

After releasing the cantata Mahzor Hayim on CD in 2018, the European Institute of Jewish Music is publishing Shma Kolenu, one of Itaï Daniel’s most imposing and lyrical scores, at this year’s end of 2024.

Since 2018, the IEMJ has published over thirty works by Itai Daniel. The Cantata Shma Kolenu is published in print or digital formats.
